The government on Wednesday clarified that it has nothing to do with this recently launched Twitter account in the name of Gilgit-Baltistan. The account with the handle @GB_Ladakh_India was created a few days ago and it claimed to be the official Twitter handle of the Union Territory of Ladakh. People started following it soon after that prompted the Centre to make it clear that the information provided in the account is false.’ A spokesperson from the Union Home Ministry has said that the Union Territory of Ladakh has only two Twitter handles namely @DIPR_LEH and @informationDep4 and apart from that, India has nothing to do with any other handle. “Kindly follow @DIPR_Leh & @InformationDep4 for official updates on UT of Ladakh. There is NO other official account of Govt. of UT of Ladakh. BEWARE OF IMPOSTERS,” said a tweet from the ministry spokesperson. Pakistan has illegally occupied Gilgit-Baltistan and India has repeatedly asked it to withdraw from this area. The information given on the fake Twitter handle says that ‘this is the official Twitter account of Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh (Union Territory)’ and its location has been stated as Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh (UT). The user link of the Ladakh administration has also been included in the information provided in the Twitter handle. The fake handle has gained attention and the number of people following it has reached thousands. A few days ago, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) started reporting the weather conditions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, areas that come under Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). The move shocked Pakistan so much that in response, Radio Pakistan started telling the weather of Jammu and Kashmir.
