At least 13 localities have been declared as red zones in Srinagar district after COVID19 cases were reported from these areas. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said of the 13 locations, Chatbbal was completely sealed after five cases were reported from one area. He said any area which has more than one COVID19 cases is declared red zone. He said all entry and exit points of the red zone were closed as a preventive measure but movement of essential supplies is allowed. “We appeal people to remain home. All essential food items like rice and LPG besides medicines are supplied with all precautions. Our medical teams are continuously visiting these areas,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner said around 800 contacts of the positive cases were traced and all of them were under surveillance. “Most of them are in quarantine,” he said.
