In view of restrictions on public movement, the Srinagar administration has started to deliver food grains and LPG at the doorsteps of residents of the district. An official said the home-delivery will starting on March 28 and will continue for full week. The district administration has devised a comprehensive plan to ensure each of over 2.6 lakh households gets quota. The district has been divided into 34 zones and in each zone the distribution will take place for three days. During the first three days, the distribution will be made in six zones including Habak, Hawal, Hazratbal, Rajbagh, Rambagh and Mehjoor Nagar, through fair price shops. Food grains being distributed include rice and wheat. Residents will be delivered items at their doorsteps. Similar distribution plan has been chalked out for delivery of LPG to consumers which also starts on Saturday. The distribution of food grains and LPG will be conducted under the supervision of Sajad Qadri who has been posted as Officer on Special Duty at the DC Office Srinagar. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who is supervising and monitoring all Covid-19 containment efforts has assured of guaranteed home delivery of both food grains and LPG to all households.
