Police on Monday said it booked residents of Dachoo village here for allegedly violating section 144 by organising a charity program. “The residents cooked rice at their houses and later distributed it among people who had gathered at a designated place in the village,” witnesses said. However, soon after the function ended, some officials and a police team reached the village, and booked many residents for violating the orders of district magistrate under section 144 CrPc, witnesses said. In an official statement, police said they booked violators of village Dachoo (FIR No 16/2020 u/s 188, 270 IPC) at police station Zainpora for violating the district magistrate order by organising community function at their village. “Restrictions were imposed in the district by order of district magistrate in the wake of epidemic declared due to COVID -19,” said the official, adding the case was registered at police station Zainapora.
