National Conference President and MP from Srinagar Farooq Abdullah on Sunday greeted people on Shab-e- Meraj. Abdullah while greeting people said the night marks the ascension of the Prophet (PBUH) towards heavens. “I extend my warm greetings to people on the auspicious eve, may the blessed night foster unity and consciousness among Muslims. May the blessed night act as harbinger of peace, prosperity and tranquility in J&K,” he said.Abdullah also appreciated the decision of J&K Waqaf Board to suspend congregational prayers on Shab-e-Meraj, saying the measure will help save human lives and help curb spread of the pandemic.The party’s additional general secretary, Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi have also extended greeting to people on the eve of Shab-e-Meraj, asking them to take care of themselves by following virus protocol. Meanwhile, Abdullah expressed grief over demise of President Bohra Sabha, and Vyapar Mandal Bohrikadal, Hidynath Mutthu.Abdullah said Mutthu was a noble soul who always stood for Hindu-Muslim harmony. The NC President also extended condolences to a close associate of Sher-e-Kashmir, Khwaja Muhammad Amin Sofi on the demise of his brother Muhammad Shafi Sofi of Abi Guzar here.The party MP from Anantnag, Hassnain Masoodi has also condoled with the mournful family.
