Two contacts of the patient who tested positive for COVID19 on March 18 have been admitted and their samples taken for testing, while samples of 11 other suspected cases have also been taken. Five people, suspected of coronavirus were admitted at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today, and their samples taken for testing. Of these, SKIMS administration said, two were contacts of the person from Khanyar here who tested positive on Wednesday, the first such case reported from Kashmir. The other three had reported with travel history and symptoms to COVID19 clinic of the Institute. “Reports are awaited,” a SKIMS official said. He further said that COVID19 patient admitted in isolation of the Institute was “doing fine”. Eight more samples were taken for coronavirus testing at designated lab of Government Medical College Srinagar. Prof S Saleem Khan, nodal officer for coronavirus at GMC Srinagar said two samples that had been taken for testing on Wednesday have tested negative, while eight new samples of patients reporting with symptoms of flu and travel history have been taken. Meanwhile, Government on Thursday informed that 356 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period and, so far, only four cases have been tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir.
