Crime Branch (CB) on Tuesday produced charge-sheet against a cashier of PHE department for embezzling Rs 1.64 crores, in the court of Anti Corruption Bureau here. An official said the accused, Nikhil Gandral, is in judicial custody in district jail Ambphalla, Jammu. The accused had committed misappropriation and embezzlement of Rs 1.64 crore out of the revenue collected as water charges. The case owes its origin to a complaint lodged by PHE, city division No 1, Jammu against Gandral of Greater Kailash, while he was posted as the cashier in the office of executive engineer.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the CB registered a criminal case (FIR No 02/2020) and started investigation.
