3 absconders arrested from Budgam: Police ‘Stone pelter held from Soura; theft, forgery case resolved, accsued arrested’

Police on Sunday said it arrested a “wanted stone pelter” from Soura here. A statement said acting on specific information, a police team headed by SHO police station, Soura, Inspector Tanveer Ahmad Dar, under the supervision of SDPO, Hazratbal, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, was successful in nabbing the accused. The accused has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Kundo @Mithayi @Akaie of Aanchar locality, said the statement. “He was evading arrest since 2010. The accused was involved in 11 FIRs of stone pelting,” said the statement. “We are committed to protect life and property of the people and seeks public cooperation in curbing anti-social elements in Srinagar,” said the statement. In a separate statement, police said it arrested three absconders from Budgam, in the ongoing drive against criminals. The statement identified the accused as Bilal Ahmad Harboo of Bulbul Lankar, Srinagar and Muhammad Rafiq of Nawab Bazar, Srinagar. “They were wanted by law for their involvement in case 224/1996 under section 379RPC, 06 Forest Act of PS Beerwah. They were evading their arrest for the last 24 years,” said the statement. The statement said police station, Khansahib arrested one absconder identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat of Sutharan. “He was wanted for his involvement in a case (FIR number 102/2015) under section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act of police station Khansahib. He was evading arrest from the last 5 years,” said the statement. In another statement, police said it solved theft and forgery case at Chanapora and arrested an accused involved in the crime. The statement said police post, Chanapra received a complaint from Javaid Ahmad Mir of Muchgam, Budgam that some unknown person stole his cheques and withdrew Rs 38,000. “A case (FIR No 48/2020) was registered at police station, Sadder and investigation initiated,” said the statement. Consequently, a special team was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Sadder, Azhar Rashid, SHO Sadder, and DO PP, Chanapora, said the statement. During the course of investigation, the CCTV footage from the bank was obtained which led to the identification of the accused, Musaib Yaseen of Chanapora who was subsequently arrested, said the statement. “During the course of investigation and questioning, the accused confessed to his crime. The accused used to write cheques for the complainant. Taking advantage of his innocence, the accused had stolen cheques and had fraudulently withdrawn Rs 38,000,” said the statement.
