J&K Forest Department today launched sale of conifer plants for general public, here today. The sale was inaugurated at Srinagar by Principal Chief Conservator Forests Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Mohit Gera. Chief Conservator of Forests, S.F.A Gillani, Kashmir, Conservator of Forests Srinagar Circle, Zubair Ahmad Shah, DFOs and other concerned were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohit Gera highlighted the need for intensive plantation and emphasised planting indigenous species of conifers including Deodar, Kail and Fir (Budlu). It was informed that the sale centres have been established for the convenience of public and around one Lac conifer plants will be made available for sale in the valley during the season at Rs 13.50 per sapling. The sale centres have been setup at PC Depot, Sheikh Bagh Forest Complex in Srinagar and at all district and divisional headquarters besides, mobile vans will also be deployed for the sale of conifer plants within the Srinagar City. The sapling will be available at these centers up to March 31.
