The statue of Martyr Sub Inspector (SI) Daljit Singh Azrot was unveiled at RS Pura main chowk. The unveiling of the statue was done by former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla along with Brig N J Singh, Brig KS Kalsi and Capt Bana Singh in presence of prominent persons of the area. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said, “Martyrs never die, they become immortal. History records their names in golden letters. Martyr Daljit Singh is one such martyr who displayed conspicuous bravery and courage and attained martyrdom at village Faizlabad, tehsil Surankote in district Poonch during search operation by STF, JKP and was awarded ‘President Police Medal for Gallantry’ posthumously. Paying tribute to the Martyr, Bhalla said that his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty has made him immortal. He called upon the people to remember and cherish the valour of Martyr. Bhalla expressed the hope that installation of the statue of a martyr will proved to be a milestone in igniting patriotism in the hearts of students and local populace. Brigadier N J Singh said that it is because of the sacrifice of great martyrs that we have got the gift of federal republic. All political parties and stakeholders should now work to protect the system and bring prosperity in the country, he added. Brigadier K S Kalsi, paying his tribute, said that martyrs are the pride of our nation and sacrifices made by martyrs to maintain peace in the country can never be forgotten. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Committee members, Jaswant Singh, Congress leader Karan Bhagat, Jawahar Singh, Suchet Singh, Daljinderjeet Singh, Simran Kaur, Ashok Sharma Faizo, Pradeep Agrawal, Bharat Bushan Gupta, Janak Raj and thousands of locals.
