An Army jawan was martyred and four others injured as Pakistani Army targeted forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said. The firing from across the border in Krishna Ghati sector started around 11.00 am, prompting a befitting response from the Indian Army, they said. In the exchange of fire in Mendhar Sector, Naik Ravi Ranjan Kumar Singh attained martyrdom. Naik Ravi Ranjan Kumar Singh, aged 36 years belonged to Village Gope Bigha, Tehsil Dehrionson, District Rotasa, Bihar and is survived by his wife, Rita Devi. He was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The Nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty. The officials said the cross-border firing between the two sides was going on when last reports were received. Indian Army responded strongly and effectively.
