Former Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that she had never seen such panic among the locals as the fresh order advising Amarnath Yatris and the tourists to leave the Valley triggered panic among the residents. Citing “intelligence inputs of the terror threats” in Kashmir, the J&K administration issued a security advisory for the Amarnath yatra pilgrims and the tourists in the Valley and advised them to leave Kashmir as soon as possible. Terming the recent developments in the Kashmir Valley as a “psychological war”, Mehbooba Mufti said in a press conference that the security advisory that was issued today has created “chaos and confusion among people” and the recent developments have “made the environment very scary”. “I have never seen such panic among Kashmiri people,” Mehbooba Mufti said. Referring to the advisory to the tourists, the Amarnath yatra pilgrims and the deployment of additional troops in Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti said, “So many developments have taken place in past few days which make the environment very scary. People are in a panic.” Mehbooba Mufti, PDP leader, and former Jammu & Kashmir CM: The Government advisory that was issued today has created chaos and confusion among people. pic.twitter.com/F8YZHQlu96 She also asked why additional troops have been deployed in Kashmir when the government has insisted that the situation is normal. “Why this deployment of security forces when the government says all is normal. Now an advisory to tourists and Amarnath yatris also sends some speculations. On one side they say militancy has decreased then why these advisories are being issued,” she said. “Some rumours going on that they will tinker with 35A. The way this state has enjoyed constitutional guarantee, it is under threat. People have sacrificed their lives to save their existence but if such things happen, people will rise against. I am not giving any threat,” Mehbooba Mufti said, adding, “There are reports of the government tinkering with the special status of J&K.” Mehbooba Mufti said, “J&K had decided to go with India on these constitutional guarantees and today it seems these guarantees are being trampled upon.” “The PM talks of winning the hearts of people of J&K. Then, why are such rumours doing the rounds? The Amarnath yatris and tourists are being sent back. But, you are not thinking where the Kashmiris, people of Jammu and Ladakh will go?” Mehbooba Mufti said.
