The State administration on Friday issued security advisory in the interest of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and curtailed the annual Amarnath Yatra in the wake of intelligence inputs regarding terror threats. In an advisory, the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department cautioned, “In the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible”The move came after security personnel recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a terror cache. The advisory was issued today and has been signed by Principal Secretary to Government (Home Department), Shaleen Kabra. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah responded to the order by tweeting: “Although this unprecedented order would seem to suggest a genuine fear of a massive terror strike directed at Amarnath ji yatris or/and tourists this will do nothing to dampen the sense of fear & foreboding that prevails in the valley at the moment
