Mushtaq Kak, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and senior theatre director of the state is producing Lamhon ki Mulaqat in the Urdu Drama Festival being held in memory of Begum Abida Ahmed. The play ‘Lamhon ki Mulaqat’ is two short stories viz Poore Chand ki Raat and Shehzada written by renowned playwright Krishan Chander of Poonch whose Urdu renditions in short stories and novels matched the acumen of stalwarts in the field of Urdu writing nationwide. The play has been designed and directed by Mushtaq Kak while dramatization has been done by Uma Jhunjhunwala . The play is being presented by Amateur theatre group. Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq said that since Urdu is the official language of the state , Lamhon ki Mulaqat at Urdu dram festival supported by Ministry of culture , New Delhi is his one of the most significant in taking the language to national panorama. “I have always been patronizing Urdu in my theatrical endeavors. The Urdu drama festival is one of the biggest national platform where language is recognized at the highest level and I feel privileged to be the part of it,” said Mushtaq Kak . Mushtaq has already produced Saddat Hasan Manto’s 48 stories with Shri Ram Centre repertoire New Delhi and 2 Krishan Chander’s novels. With Amateur Theatre Group, based in J&K, he has produced and directed Khalid Hussain’s stories based on variegated issues of social importance dramatized by Pritam Katoch. Ishaq Malangi is one of his most significant works. Besides, Mushtaq has produced and directed more than a dozen serials for Doordarshan in Urdu language . Mushtaq Kak, former director Shree Ram Centre for Performing Arts, has been a regular observer, judge and coordinator of various national theatre festival held in past in different state of the country and was one leading Indian theatrist whose three plays were screened and witnessed by representatives of 80 countries in Global Culture Summit at Abu Dhabi held in 2017. He was also one of the eminent members of screening committee of Theatre Olympiad 8, an international theatre festival organized by Culture Department, government of India and National School of Drama.
