The fellow soldiers of the martyr Jyoti Prakash Nirala raised fund to organise his sister’s marriage in Patna. Garud commando Jyoti Prakash Nirala was martyred in one of the encounters with terrorists in Kashmir valley. He had gunned down five terrorists in different encounters before losing his life for which he was posthumously honoured with Ashok Chakra during the Republic Day celebrations in 2018. He was the only brother of four sisters. Now, when Nirala’s family was finding it difficult to ensure enough funds for his sister’s marriage, Garud commandos came forward for help and each commando in the force contributed Rs 500 each and in this way, nearly Rs 5 lakhs were collected which was used for her marriage. Some pictures have gone viral on the internet showing some commandos letting a bride walk on their palms as a mark of respect.The gesture has been praised all over the internet.
