In a major setback to the Congress Party in Kargil, the National Conference ends its coalition with the party at the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil headed by Chairman /Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Feroz Ahmad Khan and partners PDP as its new alliance. CEC on Friday reshuffled the Executive Council of the LAHDC Kargil by inducting PDP Councillor from Shargole Constituency Mohd Ali Chandan and NC Councillor from Taisuru Aga Syed Abass Razvi as Executive Councillors replacing Nasir Munshi and Zakir Hussain from Congress who have been Executive Councillors until today since September last year after NC forged alliance with Congress. The move comes after Congress leader Asgar Ali Karbalai fought Lok Sabha election from Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency as an independent candidate against Sajjad Hussian, another independent candidate, jointly put up by NC, PDP and several other organisations in the district. Speaking to media in Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan clarified that this had to be done following a decision taken by National Conference in the district. Since votes in Kargil got shared between Asgar Ali Karbalai and Sajjad Hussian during Lok Sabha election, it helped BJP candidate Jamyang Tsering Namgyal to win the seat with a huge margin. MP election’s result from Ladakh has disappointed National Conference and as a result of which Congress was shown the exit door from alliance forged last year after LAHDC elections.
