Banihal, Manwal and Nowabad police Thursday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered heroin and banned syrup bottles from their possession. As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near T Chowk and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstances. During checking, police team recovered 250 grams heroin from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him. The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Sharif, son of Mohammad Rala of Tehsil Malerkotla District Sangrur Punjab. During preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that he had bought the consignment from Sangam area and was meant for selling among the youth in Punjab. A case under FIR Number 60/19 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started. Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani and Police Component team headed by DySP PC Banihal Arvind Badgal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma. Meanwhile, a team from Manwal Police Post led by SI Pawan Singh during checking apprehended two persons along with 140 bottles of banned syrup. The accused have been identified as Parvez Ahmed Dar, son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar of Malangpura, District Pulwama and Bilal Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of Pattan, District Baramulla. A case under FIR Number 60/19 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started. In another case, a joint team of District Special Branch and Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Inspector Neeraj Bhagat arrested a drug peddler along with 5 grams of heroin. The arrested person has been identified as Tariq Ahmed Bhatt, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhatt, a resident of Shangas, District Anantnag. A case under FIR Number 77/2019 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation has been initiated.
