Food Safety team challans Best Price store, lifts food samples

Food Safety wing of Drugs and Food Control Organization Tuesday lifted samples of various food items from Best Price store of Jammu for checking its quality and challaned it for insanitary conditions. A team of Food Safety officers headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Municipal Limits of Jammu, conducted a surprise inspection of Best Price store and lifted nine samples of food articles including spices, pulses, edible oil, dates (khajur), maggi, packaged milk and frozen fish. All the samples were sent to lab for analysis. During the course of inspection, the store was also challaned under Section 56 of FSS Act as its premises were found in unhygienic conditions and the food articles were found kept under insanitary conditions. The team also lifted samples of ice cream and frozen deserts from manufacturing units namely M/s ACR Food Private Limited, M/s Dairy India Industries and M/s Raks Foods Private Limited situated at Gangyal, M/s Shiva Dairy Products, situated at Industrial Estate Digiana and from various retail outlets at Gandhi Nagar. Later, the Food Safety team also visited some Government schools providing mid-day meal to the students and lifted several samples of rice, dal and spices from there to check the quality of food items. All samples were sent for analysis.
