Demand repair of roads A deputation of Bhaderwah Municipal Committee Saturday called on Executive Engineer, Roads and Buildings, and apprised him about the condition of roads in the town area.

The deputation was led by Vice-President, Rishi Kotwal, and they met the Ex-En Bashir Ahmed Khandey in his office Chamber at Dandi. The deputation said, “The roads in the town have not been repaired in a long time, due to which there are pits, potholes and ditches on them. The roads lie dilapidated especially near Takiya Chowk, Seri Bazar, Pasri Bus Stand and Lakshmi Narayan Temple.”

Kotwal told the Executive Engineer that the condition of the dilapidated roads worsens during the rainy season, which makes them prone to accidents. “At night, the people sometimes stumble down due the bad condition of roads,” he informed.

All the Municipal Committee members demanded the roads to be immediately repaired. After listening to the deputation, Khandey assured that the roads will be repaired by next week.

“We cannot blacktop the patches as the court has banned all premix plants in the area, but we can repair it with concrete,” he said, adding that the department needs cooperation from general public as well.

He further said that after the weather improves, the repair work will be executed.

The Municipal Committee members assured support to the department in execution of road repair work in the town areas.

Puneet Mehta, Shabir Sheikh, Rafiq Bagwan, Mohammad Shafi Ganai, Saleem Ahmed and Mohammad Akbar were part of the deputation.
