Srinagar, MAY 21: Five militants were killed and two soldiers injured today in an anti-militancy operation in north Kashmir’s Drugmulla area of Kupwara district. The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.
Defence sources informed that the slain terrorists are believed to be foreigners and affiliated to Jaish-e-Muhammad militant outfit.
The injured soldiers were identified as P.R Mahadev of 41 RR and Atul Kumar of 47 RR regiment. Defence spokesman stated that the gunfight ended and five rifles and other ammunitions were recovered from the encounter site.
After launching cordon and search operation early this morning, the gunfight between militants and the security forces lasted about eight hours in the Chak Drugmulla area. The area is around 80 km in north of Srinagar headquarters in Kupwara district.
