KVK Samba organises monthly officers’ workshop

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Samba under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised the monthly officers’ workshop here today.
The workshop was attended by a number of extension officers from across the District and organised under the stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi and Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-Jammu.
Chief Scientist and Head KVK Prof. Sanjay Khajuria coordinated the workshop. He discussed various field related issues and stressed on the timely and efficient management of different field problems by the farmers. He also discussed natural farming and stressed on the adoption of cluster approach for the economic development of rural areas. He also spoke on the SHGs/FPOs formation and food processing. He highlighted the formulation and use of biopesticides, biofuncides and biofertilizers in the organic crops. He added that natural farming can reduce the cost of cultivation and can play a significant role in enhancing the income and employment among the farmers.
Professor Fruit Science SKUAST Jammu Dr. Aakash Sharma discussed the commercial cultivation of fruits and encouraged the farmers to go for the scientific cultivation. He also discussed in detail the organic treatment of various insects-pests in various crops. Professor, Plant Physiology SKUAST Jammu Dr. Bhav Kumar Sinha spoke on the advance technologies in agricultural/horticultural crops. He stressed on eco-friendly practices so as to produce safe and healthy products.
