Dogra Degree College’s NSS Unit holds awarenesslecture on Solid Waste Management

Jammu: NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College organized a successful awareness lecture on Solid Waste Management as part of their Seven Days Winter Camp.
The event, held in collaboration with the IPCA (Indian Pollution Control Association) and the Eco Warrior Club, took place at the Government Middle School in Meen Sarkar.
Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College, praised the initiative, which aimed at raising awareness among students about sustainable waste management practices and the importance of environmental responsibility.
The informative lecture was conducted by Ranbeer Singh, Regional Director of IPCA, who provided valuable insights into the pressing issue of solid waste management. He emphasized the importance of individual and collective efforts in reducing waste and promoting cleaner environmental practices.
Additionally, Palak Gupta, the Convener of the Eco Warrior Club, shared effective eco-friendly practices and waste segregation techniques, motivating students to adopt green habits and spread awareness in their local communities.
The event was also supported by Balwant Parihar, UBA PI Coordinator, who highlighted the importance of youth involvement in environmental conservation efforts.
The lecture was coordinated by Simran Thakur, NSS Program Officer, who ensured the smooth execution of the event and encouraged students to take part in similar environmental initiatives.
A total of 60 students from the Government Middle School and about 30 NSS Volunteers from Dogra Degree College actively participated in the event, engaging in discussions and learning about the importance of proper waste disposal and sustainable practices.
As a part of Seven Days long NSS Winter Camp, Inaugurated on 20th February 2025, Plantation Drive was also organised on 21st of February 2025 in the adopted village of Meen Sarkar.
The event is part of the NSS Unit’s ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.
