Dogra Degree College marked the grand celebration of Matribhasha Diwas with enthusiasm and cultural fervor, in alignment with AICTE’s theme – “Talent and Ability Development through Mother Tongue.”
The event was organized to emphasize the significance of linguistic diversity and the role of mother languages in fostering inclusive education.
The event commenced with a special address by Assistant Professor Ravinder Rao, who highlighted the importance of preserving one’s mother tongue as an essential element of cultural identity and academic growth.
The event featured a series of cultural programs, including poetry recitations, traditional songs, slogan writing and poster making, all presented in various regional languages. Student showcased their linguistic heritage through performances in their native language and expressing the beauty of regional languages through artistic creativity. Students took pride in showcasing the rich linguistic heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
Under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal DDC and Rakesh Mohan Koul, Head of the Department, BBA & B.Com, DDC, the event was filled with insightful discussions and vibrant performances. The celebration highlighted the rich diversity of languages spoken across the region and underscored the importance of nurturing one’s native tongue in fostering cultural identity.
The event was coordinated by Surbhi Choudhary and Ravinder Rao, ensuring a meaningful celebration filled with knowledge-sharing and cultural expression.
On this occasion, students pledged to promote and preserve their mother languages, reinforcing the thought that “We must not only celebrate our native languages but also protect them from extinction, as every language carries a wealth of history, tradition, and knowledge.”
