The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing increasing criticism over its recent actions,or lack thereof, in the Jammu South (RS Pura) Assembly Constituency. The party’s apparent disregard for the POJK displaced Hindu Poonchi Brahmins-a community with significant voting power-poses a serious threat to its standing in this politically crucial region.”This community, deeply rooted in the area and dedicated to nation-building, has been a steadfast supporter of the BJP’s ideals. However, despite their critical role in elections, the BJP appears to be ignoring their legitimate aspirations. The exclusion of POJK displaced Hindu Poonchi Brahmins from key political discussions in the RS Pura Assembly Constituency is not just an oversight; it’s a grave mistake,” said Sh. P L Khajuria , Chief Spokesperson.
Historically, this community has been instrumental in shaping the political landscape of the region. Despite being displaced from their ancestral homes in POJK, they have continued to contribute to the socio-political fabric of Jammu. However, the BJP’s continued marginalization of this community has led to growing discontent.”
The BJP’s neglect of the POJK displaced Hindu Poonchi Brahmins in RS Pura is notjust an electoral blunder; it’s a betrayal of the trust this community placed in the party.
This negligence could alienate a crucial voter base, leading to serious consequences in the upcoming elections. It’s a political mistake that could have far-reaching impacts,” warned retired Captain Kundan Lal Sharma, a spokesperson.
The BJP Is urged to address the grievances of the POJK displaced Hindu Poonchi Brahmins with urgency. Failing to do so could lead to a significant shift in the electoral landscape, potentially costing the party the RS Pura Assembly seat. The BJP must act now to secure its future in Jammu South or risk losing its standing due to its own miscalculations.”It’s clear that those working at the grassroots level and connecting with the masses are not valued in the BJP.
In the party, it seems that having connections with Central Ministers is what matters for securing an assembly ticket. This is a blatant disregard for the trust people have placed in the BJP. There is growing anger among the public over this decision,” remarked one of the attendees at the event.
Although the first list of 44 candidates contesting elections from different assembly constituencies from the BJP was canceled within one hour of its issuance, including the Jammu South RS Pura constituency, it is evident that many mandates given are to parachute candidates who were wrongly awarded tickets. The Front noted that although there is little hope, the party must take them seriously; otherwise, the consequences will be dire.
