Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh, while reiterating the Congress party’s support to the farmers who marched to Delhi protesting for fulfilling their demands, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of muzzling the voice of the nation’s food producers.
He expressed this in his address during a function organized to commence the development work of support roads in village Sae Tengawali of Suchetgarh constituency in RS Pura today. The work was kick-started by him amidst a gathering of a large number of the village and its adjacent areas.
The senior Congress leader stated that it is an irony of the nation that the incumbent BJP Govt instead of accepting the genuine demands of the farmers is showering tear gas and bullets on the members of farming community. He urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept the protesting farmers’ pending demands before it is too late and the situation goes out of control.
Meanwhile after kick-starting the developmental work at village Sae Tengawali, Tony said that nearly ten years ago a bridge was constructed but its utility remained elusive as the authorities failed to construct the approach cum support roads leading to the bridge. He asserted that this reflects the poor planning on the part of successive representatives of the area. He said that the construction of bridge and the supporting roads should have been executed simultaneously, but that did not happen for years together and the roads could not qualify to be called roads in true sense.
The senior Congress leader said that realizing his duty as the representative of the area, he took up the matter with the concerned authorities and final got the long pending demand of the people of the area fulfilled.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Kissan Neta Mandeep Choudhary, Sonu Randhawa, Ramesh Choudhary and Baldev Singh Bedu.
