Authorities have deducted half a day to a day’s salary of nine officials, including Assistant Commissioner, Development, Rajouri, Vijay Kumar, and Block Development Officer, Qila Darhal, Madan Mohan, in the border district of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on charges of unauthorised absence and submission of wrong attendance report.
Pointing out that the order for deduction of salary was issued by the Rajouri Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, on Saturday evening, official sources said Kumar had submitted “incorrect attendance” of BDOs by showing the absent ones as present in the headquarters. This “shows non-seriousness/casual approach in performing his legitimate duties of reporting”, Kundal said in his order.
Imposing a one-day salary cut in May salary of both these officers, the deputy commissioner has also asked them to explain their position for such a casual approach within two days before any disciplinary action is taken against them, added the sources.
Sources said BDO Madan Mohan went on an “exposure tour” without seeking permission from the competent authority in a clear violation of government instructions issued from time to time in this regard.
Meanwhile, Kundal also ordered the deduction of half a day’s salary of seven BDOs who reportedly left their station headquarters without permission to attend a training programme in Jammu from May 11 to 12 and, thereafter, failed to report for duty at their respective state headquarters on May 13.
They included Javaid Ahmed, BDO Dhangri; Aamir Choudhary, BDO Darhal; Mohtasim Hanief, BDO Khwas/Moughla; Atul Mankotia, BDO Budhal (New); Sayela Mir, BDO Panjgrain; Pardeep Kumar, BDO Rajouri and Abdul Rashid Khawaja, BDO (HQ) Rajouri.
The amount deducted from the salary of these officers will be deposited in the Account of the Red Cross Society, the order said.
