The new education policy will be fast-tracked in Jammu and Kashmir. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha issued instructions in a meeting with the Vice-Chancellors of eight universities and the Director of Higher Education, including two agricultural universities. The LG said that the model of linking education with skill development and employment has to be worked out. In addition, local languages ​​and culture will have to be given special encouragement.

In a review meeting of the ongoing programs in the universities regarding the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, the LG said that the VCs of the universities and the Directorate of Higher Education should work together on implementing the new education policy. Especially by preparing the draft VC group, making arrangements to implement the new education policy at the ground level.

The LG said that the VC group and concerned officers would also hold review meetings from time to time to ensure fast track process of implementation. In addition, he noted that courses on subjects like cultural values, professional ethics, Indian knowledge system, innovation, entrepreneurship, Industry 4.0 skills and communication skills should be conducted.

For agricultural universities, the LG said that bringing technology from the laboratory to the farm will have to be further improved. However, there should be no barrier to getting lab research to the farm. In research, make sure that the cost of farmers is low and income is high.
