JAMMU: Ridiculing the slogan “Achhe Din” given by the BJP Govt over the last seven years, JKNPP expressed grave concern over the pathetic plight of the people who have been deprived the right to reside with dignity and honour.
Local residents of J&K are being deprived of constructing homes on their own land with own money, several people have been rendered homeless, rich are becoming richer and poor are becoming poorer under BJP rule. With no one to pay heed to the miseries of public at the helm of the affairs, they are only left to the mercy of God”, regretted Panther leaders Gagan Pratap Singh and Rajesh Padgotra. Speaking to the media, they rebuked the J&K Govt for not allowing the local residents to build their own houses on the land owned by them. This is bizarre. What kind of regime is running in J&K?, they asked. NPP leaders further said that people had lost faith in the administration with the perception that Urban and Housing department and its statutory bodies like JMC and JDA were working like land mafia and harassing public at large by not approving their building permission cases for vested interests.
They divulged that several delegation of aggrieved locals had brought to his notice that their applications seeking construction of residential buildings were out rightly rejected by JDA on the vague justification that the land use of the proposed sites having been “Vegetation” (Agriculture) or ” Commercial” as per the Google coordinates/ JMP-2032. “How can you deprive people of their right to reside having absolute ownership in possession of land with clear title in revenue records? Who are the agencies which drafted JMP-2032? Were people and other stake holders taken on board while preparing JMP? Were revenue records considered while drafting the JMP? Appallingly, there have been instances where plots in certain areas were approved by JDA for construction while others having situated in the same vicinity or even next to the plinth were disapproved on the basis of an absurd rationale,” they revealed.
They alleged thatn JMC and JDA have become hub of corruption with no one to take cognizance. Calling upon Lt Governor to take cognizance of the woes of people, NPP leaders urged him to personally intervene to facilitate removal of anomalies causing hurdles in issuing the permission to the legitimate land holders to construct their homes without any further delay.
