WHO recognises GMC Srinagar’s activities on WHD College receives grant, certificate of appreciation

The Worlds Health Organization (WHO) has appreciated Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar for successful completion of series of activities on World Hearing Day (WHD), a statement said. The statement said the WHO presented a “Certificate of Appreciation” to the GMC on the successful completion of series of activities on World Hearing Day which is celebrated on March 3 every year. This year, World Hearing Form (WHO) had invited proposals for World Hearing Day celebration from across the globe.The statement said in this regard the GMC, Srinagar also submitted a proposal in February. “Over 151 proposals were received by the WHO and proposal from Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College Srinagar was selected among 20 others to receive a grant of 800 USD,” said a statement, adding the GMC celebrated the World Hearing Day 2020 on March 3 at GMC, Srinagar and Hazratbal block.The activities include lecture sessions, quiz, screening of school children and poster competition, said Head of Department, Prof S Muhammad Salim Khan. The activities were coordinated by Dr Sheikh Mohammed Saleem, demonstrator Community Medicine, GMC, said the statement.

It said Prof Samia Rashid, Principal GMC was the patron of the program while Prof Muhammad Maqbool Mir, ex HOD, ENT GMC, founder and President of Voluntary Medicare Society was the guest of honour.
