IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, delivered lecture to probationer Superintendent of Police and probationer Sub-Inspectors at SKPA. This lecture was the first of the series of lectures planned by the Director SKPAU for the trainees after completion of six months basic training course. The topic of today’s lecture was “Police, Prosecution and Judiciary, the Pillars of Criminal Justice System.” IGP Jammu during his lecture elaborated in detail the role played by each agency in ensuring justice. He highlighted the importance of each agency and termed each as a cog in the wheel of criminal justice system without each of these the whole wheel of criminal justice system would fail. Further deliberating on the topic, Singh highlighted the importance of FIR and said that FIR is the base of any case and care as well as caution should be taken that it should be recorded in simple and truthful terms. As all investigations starts with the registration of FIR and culminates into charge sheet so the FIR assumes great importance in detail and called upon the officers to develop the investigating skills, he added. Giving details of the role of prosecution, Singh termed the role of prosecution as very pivotal in criminal justice system as all the cases charge sheeted by the police are prosecuted by the prosecutors by proving the charges against the culprits during trial. The manner in which the case is presented in court by the prosecutor determines the win ability of the case. Speaking about judiciary, IGP said that the role of judiciary is to see that no culprit goes unpunished by due process of law nor should the innocent be punished. The judiciary ensures the imparting of justice, he informed. At the end Director SKPA Udhampur presented memento to Mukesh Singh, IPS, IGP Jammu. Earlier Mukesh Singh was welcomed and introduced by Mohan Lal, SSP AD (Outdoor) and vote of thanks was proposed by Kamal Sharma, CPO.
