Rajouri, Apr 20
In continuation of its humanitarian initiatives and commitment to the welfare of border residents, the Indian Army organized a medical patrol in the remote village of Keri, located in Rajouri district. The aim of the initiative was to deliver basic healthcare services and spread awareness about health and hygiene among the local population, especially in areas where access to medical facilities remains extremely limited.
Staying true to its values, ethos, and traditions, the Indian Army has consistently displayed its humane and professional face, going beyond the call of duty to support the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This medical patrol, conducted by the Army unit based at Samote, was yet another step in this ongoing mission of service and solidarity with the Awam (people).
During the patrol, free medical check-ups and consultations were provided to a total of 58 villagers, which included 23 men, 21 women, and 14 children. All those who sought medical attention were given proper consultation and were provided with free medicines, as per their requirements. The Indian Army’s medical representatives thoroughly examined the patients and ensured that appropriate treatment and preventive advice were provided.
The primary objective of the initiative was not only to offer immediate medical relief but also to raise awareness about common diseases, seasonal illnesses, and the importance of maintaining hygiene and a balanced lifestyle. Special attention was given to educating the villagers about nutrition, sanitation, and preventive healthcare – key elements that are often overlooked in rural and underserved regions.
The villagers expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Indian Army’s outreach, stating that such efforts bring immense relief, especially in areas like Keri where health infrastructure is inadequate. Many locals also emphasized that having medical services reach their doorsteps helps build a stronger connection between the armed forces and the civilian population, creating a sense of unity and cooperation.
This initiative not only helped address the immediate healthcare needs of the people but also enhanced the bond of trust and understanding between the Indian Army and the local communities. The event is a reflection of the Army’s constant efforts to ensure the wellbeing of people living in remote and difficult terrains.
The Indian Army’s contribution was widely appreciated, with villagers commending the selfless service of the soldiers and expressing hope for more such initiatives in the future.
