Rajouri, Oct 17
Reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and inclusive development, the Indian Army organised a Medical Camp at Gabbar, District Rajouri, under its ongoing humanitarian initiative Operation Sadbhavana. The outreach programme aimed to deliver quality healthcare to the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, who often face limited access to medical facilities due to their nomadic lifestyle and residence in remote, mountainous areas.
The camp was designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to address the specific medical challenges faced by these marginalized populations. It offered general health check-ups, paediatric consultations, women’s healthcare services, and the distribution of free medicines to all beneficiaries. A special focus was placed on maternal and child health, elderly care, and the promotion of preventive healthcare practices, encouraging individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles and seek early medical attention when required.
A total of 276 people, including 103 men, 117 women, and 56 children, benefited from the camp’s medical facilities. Teams of experienced Army doctors and medical staff carried out consultations, diagnosed common ailments, and offered on-the-spot treatment. They also educated the attendees on hygiene, nutrition, immunization, and preventive measures against seasonal and communicable diseases. The event highlighted the Army’s focus on holistic well-being-combining medical support with awareness and education to create long-term health resilience among rural communities.
The Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, who are an integral part of the Pir Panjal region’s cultural and social fabric, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Army’s consistent efforts in ensuring their well-being. Community members conveyed that such camps are invaluable, as they provide accessible healthcare at their doorstep-something that is often difficult to obtain due to the region’s challenging terrain and limited infrastructure.
Army officials present at the camp reiterated that Operation Sadbhavana continues to serve as a bridge of trust between the Indian Army and local residents. By focusing on humanitarian initiatives, including healthcare, education, and livelihood support, the Army is not only safeguarding the borders but also nurturing peace, stability, and development within the region.
The Medical Camp at Gabbar stands as yet another testament to the Indian Army’s compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Through such sustained efforts, the Army continues to build stronger community relations and promote the spirit of care, cooperation, and national integration across the remote corners of the Union Territory.
