JAMMU, Feb 7
Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has raised serious concerns over blatant irregularities in the recruitment process conducted by the J&K judiciary services for the posts of Process Server and Orderly.
Terming the waiting list issued by the office of the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora, a mockery of justice, he pointed to a shocking instance where the name of a single candidate, Pooja Devi, Daughter of Krishan Lal and resident of Jandore Ramnagar, Udhampur, was listed twice—at Serial Number 3 and 7—in a waiting list comprising of only eight candidates.
“This glaring discrepancy is not just a clerical error; it reflects the utter disregard for merit and transparency in the judicial recruitment process. If such anomalies exist in judicial services, one shudders to imagine the level of malpractice in other sectors,” Tony stated while interacting with a delegation of aggrieved candidates who met him today seeking justice.
The applicants, deeply anguished by the injustice, demanded an immediate cancellation of the list, citing favoritism and manipulation in the selection process. They alleged that the upcoming interview is nothing more than an eyewash, conducting merely to fulfill procedural formalities while deserving candidates will be sidelined.
Tony lashed out at the authorities for undermining the sanctity of judicial institutions and called upon the Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to intervene urgently. “Justice should not only be done but should also be seen to be done. This selection process reeks of nepotism and inefficiency, which must be rectified without delay,” he asserted.
The senior Congress leader appealed to the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court to take cognizance of the matter and order a fresh recruitment process, to be conducted by an independent panel to ensure transparency and fairness. “Judicial services are meant to uphold justice, and if such discrepancies persist, it will shake the faith of people in the system,” he asserted.
Tony also urged the Chief Justice to initiate a thorough probe into the irregularities and take strict action against those responsible for tampering with the recruitment process. “Those involved in such malpractices must be held accountable, and individuals with questionable integrity should not be entrusted with such important responsibilities in the future,” he added.
Tony emphasized that only a fair and transparent recruitment process can restore public trust in the judiciary, and any attempt to manipulate such processes must be dealt with firmly.
