In the backdrop of badaal crisis of Mysterious disease where 17 people have lost their life, GMC Rajouri conducted a CME on organo Phosphorus poisoning which was attended by more than hundred young doctor. The CME deliberated upon different aspects of organo phosphorous poisoning especially it’s sign and symptoms with specific focus on its treatment and management. The prominent Speakers were Dr Aman Sharma, HoD pharmacology, Dr Meenakshi HoD Pathology and Dr Surinder Sharma Neurologist Govt Medical College Jammu.
Dr Aman Sharma discussed the different variants of toxic compounds in this group and disclosed that more than five thousand salts have been identified so far in this category and made students aware about the importance of antidotes especially Atropine in reversing the effects . HoD pathology discussed postmortem findings and presented different case studies on this. Dr Surinder , Neurologist discussed the importance of having high degree of suspicion when any patient comes with vivid symptoms.
He appreciated Dr A S Bhatia and his team of doctors using this sense and being daring to empirically use Atropine that turned out to be a live saviour for many people.
The CME was attended by faculty members , Junior Doctors and Students.Dr Bhatia said that doctors should not confined themselves only to what is written in books. We should have sixth sense while dealing with patients, he added that all that is written in books is not the end as we can see universe upto some extent by using highest resolution telescopes but it even exists beyond that what is not visible to us so is true for medical science. Diseases may present in a way which is not mentioned in the text books.
Along with learning medicine , young doctors should learn how to analyse the situation and come out with a solution.
He advised students to develop self control measures and a habit to tackle emerging health crisis
The CME ended by praying for the people of baddal village Rajouri.
