JAMMU, Dec 4
Arvind Mahajan, MLA Jammu West, today conducted a visit to Nitco Lane, Ward No. 31, to review the problems being faced by the residents of the area due to increased vehicular traffic in the link road connecting Nitco Lane and Bhagwati Nagar. The surge in traffic has been attributed to the ongoing four-laning construction work, which has diverted a significant volume of vehicles to this route, resulting in frequent traffic jams and inconveniences for the locals.
During the visit, the residents expressed their frustration with the long traffic jams disrupting their daily lives.
Senior officials from the Traffic Department accompanied the MLA, listening to public grievances and assuring that necessary steps would be taken to address the situation promptly.
Arvind Mahajan, while interacting with the residents, acknowledged their concerns and emphasized the importance of balancing development with public convenience. He remarked, “Development is a cornerstone of progress, but it is equally vital to ensure that it does not create undue hardships for the public. The four-laning project is a significant step towards enhancing connectivity, but we must ensure that alternative routes are managed efficiently to minimize disruption.”
The Traffic Department officials present at the site assured that they would immediately devise a strategy to streamline traffic flow in the affected area. Measures such as deploying additional traffic personnel, improving signage, and exploring temporary diversions will be prioritized.
Arvind Mahajan also directed the officials to expedite the work and ensure that the link road is not burdened beyond its capacity. He assured the residents that their issues would be resolved at the earliest and thanked them for their patience and cooperation during the ongoing construction phase.
“I am committed to ensuring that the development projects in Jammu West are carried out without compromising the quality of life for our citizens. I urge all stakeholders to work together to find effective solutions for these temporary challenges,” he added.
