NCC Unit of Dogra Degree College organizes Guest Lecture on Agniveer Scheme

An informative and insightful session on the Agniveer Scheme and the Officer Exam for entry-level positions in the Defence sector was conducted by Ex-Serviceman COL. O.S. Chouhan, a respected member and Secretary JKESL. The event, held at Dogra Degree College, aimed to provide a detailed understanding of the Agniveer Scheme, which offers youth the opportunity to serve in the Indian Armed Forces under a transformative new model. The session also focused on the preparation for the Officer Exam required for aspiring candidates.
The Agniveer Scheme, launched by the Indian Government, represents a significant change in recruitment policies for the armed forces. This initiative allows young, energetic candidates to serve in the military for a fixed period of four years, after which they can pursue opportunities in various fields, including both defence and civilian sectors. During the event, Ex-Serviceman O.S. Chouhan elaborated on the nuances of the Agniveer recruitment process, eligibility criteria, benefits, and career prospects.
In addition, Col. Chouhan offered valuable insights into the Officer Exam, providing strategies and tips for those preparing to join the elite ranks of the Armed Forces. The session was highly beneficial for candidates seeking a successful career in defence, giving them the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the recruitment process.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the speaker regarding their concerns and aspirations in joining the Defence sector. Ex-Serviceman O.S. Chouhan’s extensive experience in military recruitment and training, as well as his role in mentoring youth through JKESL, made him the ideal guide for this session. NCC Cadet SGT Vishal Verma, a student of BBA 5th semester at Dogra Degree College, also shared his personal experience with NCC, highlighting how the organization has helped him develop leadership, discipline, and a sense of responsibility. His insights were appreciated by all present.
The event was attended by the volunteers from Dogra Degree College NCC unit, who actively contributed to the event. Additionally, NCC Cadets from Dogra Law College, accompanied by their CTO, Om Parkash, and Cadets from Rich Harvest School, with their ANO T.O Mohit Sharma, were also present.
The session was hosted by Aditi Khajuria, Lecturer in English, who also delivered the formal welcome. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ravinder Kumar Rao, Assistant Professor in the Department of English.
Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College, expressed her appreciation for the event’s success and lauded the efforts of NCC Officer CTO/ANO Gulshan Kumar in organizing this impactful session. The event concluded with refreshments, allowing attendees to further interact and clarify any queries regarding the Agniveer Scheme.
The event also received commendations from Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary DET, and Dr. Dharamveer Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs at DET, who also marked his presence in the event and congratulated the principal, staff, students, and NCC unit for their participation and contribution to the initiative. This session proved to be a crucial opportunity for students interested in a career in the Armed Forces, providing them with the knowledge, guidance, and motivation to pursue the Agniveer Scheme and Officer Exam successfully.
