The Indian Army celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with vibrant events across the southern Pir Panjal region, honouring the principles of peace, non-violence, and community service that Mahatma Gandhi championed. This year’s observance emphasized the importance of Gandhi’s teachings in fostering unity and resilience, especially in a region that has witnessed its share of challenges. The day began with solemn ceremonies at various forward operating bases, where soldiers and local residents gathered to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation.
Floral offerings were laid at his portrait, and a moment of silence was observed to reflect on Gandhi’s profound impact on India and the world. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of camaraderie as individuals from diverse backgrounds came together to honour the ideals of peace and harmony. The celebrations included a series of cultural programs that showcased the rich heritage of the region.
Local artists performed traditional dances and songs, celebrating both the spirit of Gandhi and the cultural diversity of the Pir Panjal area. These performances not only entertained but also served as a reminder of the importance of community and the shared values that bind people together.
In a special initiative, children from nearby schools were invited to participate in drawing competitions on themes from Gandhi’s life.
