Dogra Degree College successfully organized a special documentary video lecture titled Orientation Cum Refresher session for its students on 27 September 2024. The event aimed to educate students about the objectives, structure, and operation of Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) in fostering a culture of creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship on campus. The primary goal of the documentary video lecture was to introduce students to the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) and highlight its role in cultivating innovative thinking and entrepreneurial skills. The IIC is a key initiative designed to inspire students to move beyond traditional learning by encouraging hands-on experimentation, ideation, and collaboration with industry experts. It serves as a platform for turning students’ creative ideas into practical, marketable solutions.
The documentary presented the IIC’s mission to encourage a mindset of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, provide a framework for collaboration between academia and industry professionals, support students in developing their ideas through resources such as mentorship, incubation, and funding and facilitate participation in national and international innovation programs, competitions, and hackathons.
The video also highlighted the comprehensive structure of the Institutional Innovation Council, Six pillars of IIC ensured its functioning , 7 Key parameters ,22 Key Indicators, NISP (National Innovation and startup policy) 2019 and also explaining how it functions to support student innovation, comprised of academic leaders, faculty members, and industry experts, the Advisory Board guides the strategic direction of the IIC, ensuring that it aligns with both national innovation priorities and the needs of the student community.
Faculty members who serve as Innovation Ambassadors lead various innovation-driven activities such as workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs. They work closely with students to nurture their ideas and help them navigate the journey from ideation to execution.
These are student-led groups that serve as a hub for creative thinking and problem-solving on campus. By organizing brainstorming sessions, idea challenges, and collaborative projects, they play a crucial role in fostering a culture of innovation.
The IIC facilitates connections between students and industry professionals, as well as other academic institutions, providing students with the opportunity to engage in real-world projects and gain exposure to the latest trends in innovation and entrepreneurship. Following the documentary screening, a lecture was conducted by IIC Convenor Rachna Devi to reinforce the importance of innovation in today’s rapidly changing world. The lecture focused on the role of innovation in solving societal and industrial challenges, various opportunities available through IIC, such as access to mentorship, funding, and exposure to industry leaders success stories of students who have benefited from the IIC and gone on to launch startups or create impactful solutions.
Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak applauded the efforts of IIC Convener & its team of Amarpreet Kaur, Monika Sharma & Preeti Sharma, all Assistant Prof. at Dogra Degree College for successfully conducting the event.
Students were encouraged to actively participate in the council’s programs and initiatives and to utilize the resources available through the IIC to enhance their learning experience and entrepreneurial potential.
