Commemorates Sant Kabir Jayanti at Kabir Mandir, Dharamkot

Col Mahan Singh (Retd), Chairman of District Development Council (DDC), Kathua, described Sant Kabir as an epitome of righteousness, adding that his philosophy in verse will continue to guide humanity and help society overcome hate, animosity and bitterness.
“Sant Kabir has blessed the humanity with eternal message of peace, love and tranquillity and those following these teachings would never do injustice to others and work for just society based on equality”, Col Mahan said while recalling the teachings and philosophy of the Great Saint at a special event organized on the occasion of Sant Kabir Jayanti at Kabir Mandir, Dharamkot.
The event was organized by the local Management Committee, and it brought together a diverse group of community leaders, activists, and members of various NGOs and the Scheduled Caste community.on the occasion, Neeru Bala, DDC Member Mandali; Gopal Krishan, renowned Social Activist; Rajinder Jaswal; Duni Chand Bhatti, ex JKAS; and other distinguished guests accompanied the DDC Chairman. The event commenced with a soulful Kirtan, followed by an awards ceremony where incentives were distributed to outstanding students. A Langar (community kitchen) was also organized as part of the commemoration. Speaking at the event, Col Mahan Singh emphasized the teachings of Sant Kabir and his profound impact on social cohesion in India.
He underscored the relevance of Kabir’s teachings in contemporary times, quoting a famous proverb: Bura Jo Dekhan Main Chala, Bura Na Milaya Koe, Jo Man Khoja Apana, To Mujhase Bura Na Koe.
The DDC Chairman said the best way of remembering the greatest Bhakti poet is to take a pledge to tread the path shown by him and work for the growth of harmonious society where people, irrespective of caste, creed or colour live a dignified life based on the well-defined principles of humanity.
Col Mahan said that great saints and sages have blessed humanity with their eternal messages of peace, harmony, love and compassion that has helped the society to steer to light from the dark tunnel of ignorance and selfishness. He called for emulating the message of Sant Kabir in letter and spirit, as the very secular ethos of the state is in peril.
Col Mahan Singh expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to partake in this meaningful event and reiterated the importance of celebrating the teachings of Sant Kabir, which promote harmony and understanding in society.
