VC JU inaugurates ten days workshop ontechnique of Kathak used in Bollywood

Ten days workshop on the theme technique of Kathak used in Bollywood choreography organised by Kathak Department, Institute of Music & Fine Arts was today inaugurated by Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor University of Jammu in presence of students, faculty members & civil society members in the premises of IMFA.
Speaking on the occasion Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai congratulated the Kathak Department of IMFA for organising a meaningful workshop on a meaningful title. He said that the Music & Fine Arts has been given a vital place in the New Education Policy(NEP). These types of workshops are meaningful to the students because of which the students are also being given the knowledge of NEP. He said that the techniques of Kathak had played a vital role in Bollywood particularly in classical films.
It is the need of the hour that traditional dance of Indian classical music be provided to the new generation also, said the Vice Chancellor. He appreciated the role of Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal IMFA alongwith Dr. Priya Dutta, HOD Music & her team for organising musical functions again & again. IMFA is an important part of the University of Jammu. It will provide all types of facilities in the future, said the Vice Chancellor.
Dr. Priya Dutta, HOD Music while speaking on the occasion discussed the aims & objectives of the workshop. She informed that the students of Kathak Dance Department & the students from various schools of Jammu region are participating in the 10 day long workshop. She also informed that for the revival of Indian traditional culture, more & more workshops would be organised by the Music Department in the near future. Earlier, in his welcome address Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik highlighted various problems being faced by IMFA. He discusses in detail the problems of teaching faculty, non-teaching faculty & infrastructure facilities in the IMFA. He congratulates Dr. Priya Dutta & her team for organising a meaningful workshop on a meaningful theme.
It is pertinent to mention here that the workshop is being attended by 32 participants from IMFA & different schools from Jammu province.
The workshop is being collaborated by Himal-ayan Education Mission, Rajouri.
Rajkumar Sharma conducted the proceeding of the programme & also presented vote of thanks. The other faculty members present on the occasion were Sh. Sunil Raina, Sh. Suraj Singh, Dr.Sumeet Madan, Dr. Deepali Wattal, Smt. Bindu Sharma, Dr.Jasmeet Kour, Dr.Roshi Shami-notra, Sh.Rajesh Kumar, Dr Sujata Rajput ,Sh.Vijay Kumar, Shivani Kapoor and Ankita Yadav.
