A one-day awareness program on Biotech Entrepreneurship, Startups, and Skill Development training was organized by the School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. The program was attended by the undergraduate, post graduate and Ph.D. scholars of the department along with the staff and faculty members. The occasion was graced by an invited speaker, Er. Ankush Varma from IIIM, Jammu, who is a distinguished figure in the realm of entrepreneurship & startups and is presently working as Co-ordinator/CEO at IIIM-TBI (BioNEST Incubator). The purpose of the awareness program was to support and create awareness about startups, understand the challenges of being an entrepreneur, and the importance of skill-based training and increasing the culture of startups and self-employment for young entrepreneurs. The students and faculty had an interactive discussion with the speakers and were provided with valuable insights into how they can start and run their own technology-based enterprise. The event was conceptualized and managed by Dr. Anil Kumar, SoBT, coordinator of the awareness program, with the encouragement and coordination of Dr. Ratna Chandra, Head of the School of Biotechnology. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the faculty of the School of Biotechnology towards the overall grooming and development of their students as abled professionals. He laid stress on organizing more such programs to enhance knowledge of the students at SMVDU.
