Dogra Higher Secondary School proudly commemorated Earth Day with a vibrant celebration centered around the theme “Planet vs Plastic,” highlighting the urgent need to reduce plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability.
The day commenced with a symbolic Flower planting campaign, symbolizing our commitment to combating climate change and restoring our ecosystems. Students and staff enthusiastically participated, planting trees within the school campus.
The heart of the celebration was the “Planet vs Plastic” themed activities, which included thought-provoking presentations given by 8th class students, interactive displays, and artistic exhibits showcasing the environmental impact of plastic and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Mehtaab of class 7th and Ridham of class 8th were the anchors of the day. Students took to the stage to perform a theatrical play, depicting the battle between planet Earth and plastic pollution, urging audience members to join the fight for a cleaner, healthier world. Adding to the festivities, students of class 7th composed and performed lively songs and poems advocating for the reduction of single-use plastics and the preservation of our precious ecosystems.
Additionally, students of Class 4th had the opportunity to visit a local park, where they learned about the importance of biodiversity and the role of green spaces in promoting environmental health and well-being In a solemn ceremony, the Managing Director, Principal, Headmaster coordinator, staff members and participants took a pledge to uphold their commitment to environmental stewardship and to actively contribute to cleaning the Earth. The pledge reinforced their dedication to reducing plastic consumption, promoting recycling, and protecting the natural environment for future generations.
The Managing Director of the School, Kunwar Gambhir Dev Singh Charak expressed profound appreciation to all participants for their unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
In her address to the students, the Principal of the School, Devinder Kour emphasized the importance of Earth Day as a reminder of our duty to protect and preserve our planet. She encouraged students to become proactive agents of change, leading by example in adopting sustainable practices and advocating for environmental conservation.
