Shiv Sena (UBT) accused the step-motherly treatment to the team of top officials of the Election Commission who visited Jammu and Kashmir in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for not invited and met despite asking for time. In a press conference held at the party’s state office here today, state chief Manish Sahni said that in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, top officials of the Election Commission are on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to meet representatives of various political parties.
After meeting the representatives of various political parties in Kashmir last day. Reaching Jammu, a request was sent on their behalf, which was rejected outright and they were asked to present their views through a memorandum only.
Sahni said that statehood should be restored before the Lok Sabha elections, the democratic process should be restored at the Municipal Corporation and Panchayat level including the Assembly earlier even before elections. Along with this, adequate security should be provided to the opposition leaders, especially Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders.
Sahni said that a memorandum has been sent to the Election Commission through mail regarding all the above demands.
Also suggested that all parties and independent candidates should also be included in the meetings to be held regarding elections.
