jammu, mar 12
The Home Ministry on Monday announced the notification of the rules to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act.
The CAA was passed in December 2019 and subsequently got the president’s assent but there were protests in several parts of the country against it.
The central government notified the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024. These rules will now enable minorities persecuted on religious grounds in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to acquire citizenship in our nation.
The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of president Ashok Gupta took out a massive celebration rally in Jammu city in favour of the CAA being notified for implementation. The party president distributed sweets among the locals for the grand humanitarian cause.
CAA rules being will now start granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants — Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians — from the three countries. The 2019 CAA amended the Citizenship Act of 1955 allowing Indian citizenship for Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian religious minorities who fled from the neighbouring Muslim majority countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 2014 due to “religious persecution or fear of religious persecution”. Those who could not come to India at the time of partition and were persecuted on the basis of religion in these different countries. People who came to India before 2014 had no rights here, so PM Modi has done a good job by giving them citizenship so that they can also live their lives with dignity and raise their children.
CAA will not take away citizenship of any Indian citizen irrespective of religion. It’s not against any single religion/ community.
He welcomed the legislation and said this should have been done much earlier but better late than never. He claimed that this law has nothing to do with Muslims while stating that there are a lot of misunderstandings among the Muslims regarding this law.
CAA has no impact on existing Indian citizens of any faith. Explaining the process, He said that it simply fast-tracks the Indian citizenship process for approximately 31,000 religious minorities who fled Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in the face of extreme and systemic persecution.
For instance, each year in Pakistan alone 1000 minor girls from minority communities are kidnapped, forcibly converted and ‘married’ to their abductors, with support from police and judicial authorities. As a result, petrified families with young kids have been fleeing to India for basic safety.”
The party workers who were present at the time of protest were Nanku, Ashish, Prem, Akshay, Kalu, Naresh, Abhishek, Geeta, Raj Kumari and various others were present.
