A silently working Social Activist Madam Saroj Mahajan was felicitated on International Women’s Day by Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) in collaboration with ABMBS & MASAHRA . She has been working for the last about forty years to empower the poor , physically challenged , mentally retarded , sick , helpless and socially abondoned women folk . “Nari Shakti Welfare Society” (Regd) was founded by her in 1989 and since then she has been working tirelessely without looking back . She has been performing with her dedicated team in rural areas as well by organising camps , seminars , women conferences and meetings . Her organisation has helped and fincially supported the marriage of young poor girls . Her sanstha has all along been identifying poor and down trodden talented girls and helped them to grow in their respective fields . She was first woman President of the coveted “Jammu-Kashmir Zone Bhartya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha” . She has supported hundreds of women to make them self reliant with dignity . Miss Vanshika Kaw a primary level student was also honoured for her all round outstanding potential especially in the field of singing and being patronised by Saroj Mahajan . She was presented with a shawl and momento . The dignitories and Executive Body Members of NDS present on the occasion felicitated Saroj Mahajan on International Women’s Day with a shawl and momento to mark her contributions to the society .

Capt lalit Sharma IFS former APCCF and Convener NDS in his opening remarks said that when the established women work to empower the fellow women folk especially from the down trodden strata of the society , wonders happen and Madam Saroj Mahajan has proved this by setting a personal example . He congratulated all women on this day .
Sushil Bhola Executive Member NDS while speaking on the occasion said that Sanstha Culture has always paid respect and ensured legitimate rights of women folk and the present disparities need to be addressed with collective efforts .
Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila President NDS said that since about fifty percent of our population are women , therefore , to empower our society it is imperitive to empower women .
Prof.Anupama Sharma Patron NDS praised the dedicated , sincere and helping endeavours of Madam Saroj Mahajan and described her as an iconic figure in the field of social work for women folk .
Dr.Parveen Yograj renowned personality of Jammu in his address while appreciating the conttributions of women , enumerated the women who have the previlege to be the first lady in respective fields .
On request Prof.Anupama Sharma renowned singer of Duggar , Advocate Deepika Mahajan a talented singer and Miss Vanshika Kaw presented Shiv Bhajans in their melodious and captivating voices to mark the occasion of “Shiv Ratri” today .
Saroj Mahajan while thanking NDS and the participants very humbly expressed her gratitude and said that it is because of blessings of God Almighty that you get inspiration to do your bit . He appealed every one to contribute for an healthy , vibrant and prosperous society . He said though Madam Saroj Mahajan is a silent worker and is publicity shy but he thanked her for agreeing to the request of NDS to honour her .
