The Central University of Jammu recently hosted a thought-provoking “Mind Meet” program at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, reflecting its commitment to fostering a dynamic academic environment under the visionary leadership of Prof Sanjeev Jain, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor.
At the heart of the event was a compelling session delivered by Prof Kavita Suri, the former Director of Continuing Education at Jammu University, who delved into the nuances of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, 2013, a decade since its enactment. Her insights shed light on the evolving landscape of gender dynamics and legal frameworks aimed at combating sexual harassment in academic and professional spheres.
Prof Jaya Bhasin, the Central Chairperson of GSCASH (Gender Sensitization Committee Against Sexual Harassment), highlighted the pivotal role of institutions like the Central University of Jammu in fostering inclusive environments that prioritize the safety and dignity of all genders.
The event also witnessed the active participation of panelists, including Ms Prachi, Ms Anjali, and Mr Varun, representing the scholar and student community, as well as faculty members such as Dr. Gowhar, Dr. Iqbal, and Dr. Anjali. Their contributions enriched the discourse surrounding gender equity and underscored the university’s commitment to fostering dialogue and awareness on pertinent social issues.
Prof Jaya Bhasin’s welcome address set the tone for the session, emphasizing the university’s initiatives such as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), gender champions, and counseling centers, which serve as vital pillars in creating safe and inclusive spaces for all members of the university community.

Dr. Vinita, as the member secretary of GSCASH, played a crucial role in coordinating the session, ensuring its smooth conduct and meaningful engagement.
