Viksit Bharat: Dogra Degree College inaugurates much-awaited Seven-Day Winter Camp

Upper Kartholi, Samba – The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Dogra Degree College proudly inaugurated its much-awaited Seven-Day Winter Camp under the banner Viksit Bharat w.e.f on 29th February, 2024 to 6th March, 2024. The camp, themed around the motto “Not Me, But You,” is set to bring together enthusiastic volunteers from across the region to engage in a week-long program aimed at fostering community development and social welfare.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Jatin Sharma, Student representative, NSS Unit who expressed his delight in seeing the camp finally come to fruition after months of meticulous planning and preparation. He highlighted the significance of such initiatives in instilling a sense of social responsibility and civic duty among the youth.
Following the welcome address, a symbolic gesture of hope and growth was made with the distribution of saplings to all Dignitaries. This act symbolizes our commitment to nurturing not only our communities but also the environment we inhabit. As the day progressed, the atmosphere was illuminated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, signifying the enlightenment and empowerment that the NSS aims to bring to society.
The lamp lighting was accompanied by the melodious presentation of the NSS anthem by our dedicated volunteers, infusing the event with a sense of unity and purpose.
The highlight of the inauguration was the detailed seven-day plan delivered by the NSS Program Officer, Ms Priyanka Sharma. In her address, she outlined a comprehensive roadmap for the NSS activities over the next seven days, focusing on key areas such as education, health, environment, and community development.
Her vision and strategic approach garnered much appreciation from the audience, setting a positive tone for the camp. She also sensitized the students about the importance of camp in their career and also emphasis upon, if they register themselves in camp and actively participate in yearly activities, they would get five marks in their admissions in PG course. While speaking on the occasion Dr. Bela Thakur, principal of the college encouraged volunteers for taking part in such activities which enhance their characters and personalities. She also blessed the students with her kind words. During the function the students were apprised about the relevance of such type of camps.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Shruti Slathia, Student Member, NSS Unit expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to making the event a success. She emphasized the role of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the NSS’s goals and encouraged everyone to actively participate and make a difference in the days to come. As the day drew to a close, the camp ended on a patriotic note with the singing of the national anthem, uniting everyone in a moment of pride and solidarity.
The inauguration of the Seven-Day NSS Winter Camp marks the beginning of a new chapter in community service, one that promises to leave a lasting impact on society. The coming days are filled with exciting activities and initiatives, all aimed at making a positive difference in the lives of those around us.
