Col Mahan Singh (Retd), DDC Chairman Kathua today inaugurated a 1.5-kilometer-long concrete road connecting the remote habitations of Sanki, Gujjar Mohalla, Mann, Marthni, and Wadi in Plakh and Pretha Panchayat today. This momentous occasion was met with cheers, slogans, and jubilation from the villagers who have been waiting for this day to arrive for decades.
The road’s inauguration fulfills a long-standing dream for isolated communities in the area, who have struggled with difficulties in transporting building materials, threshing crops, commuting, and rescuing patients. The road promises to alleviate these struggles and provide better accessibility to mainstream opportunities for the residents, predominantly from ST, Minority communities and weaker sections.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan Singh expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, Dr. Jitendra Singh MoS PMO, and LG Manoj Sinha for their unwavering commitment to developing far-flung areas and providing funds for improving rural road connectivity. He also highlighted the significance of this development and stated that it is a testament to the Modi government’s dedication to inclusive and sustainable development.
Accompanied by Capt Harnam Singh, Mohd Deen, Badri Badu, and others, Col Mahan Singh reiterated his assurance to the residents that this concrete road would mark the beginning of a brighter future for these remote areas. The development marks a significant milestone in the journey towards bridging the gap between isolated communities and mainstream opportunities, he added.
He said that the unprecedented development in the rural areas under the Modi regime signifies the government’s determination towards empowering the marginalized sections and fulfilling their long-standing dreams.
