Conference on Evaluating the Impact of ‘UDAAN’ Scheme held at GCW Parade

An Information Dissemination Conference of ICSSR Sponsored Project on Evaluating the Design, Implementation and Impact of the Special Industry Initiative ‘UDAAN’ Scheme A mixed Methods Approach was held at Government College for Women Opposite Parade Ground Jammu City 181001 on 27th of February 2024. The conference was attended by Kunwarani Dr Ritu Singh catalyst for change and pioneer in education and women empowerment, Dr Rashmi Singh (IAS) former Commissioner cum Secretary Commercial Taxes Jammu and Kashmir, Mamta Singh a well-known social worker, Indu Kanwal Chib (KAS) Director Rural Livelihoods Mission, Dr Ashutosh Bhatnagar, Director JK Study Circle, Dr Ankit Dube, Dr Navneet Kumar and Dr Amitash Ojha from IIT Jammu, Prof B.B Anand Principal GDC Sidhra, Prof S.P Saraswat Principal GCW Parade Jammu and many others. The conference was held through a series of panel discussions highlighting various issues associated with the Design, Implementation and Impact of the ‘UDAAN’ Scheme. Speaking on the occasion, Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh highlighted the need for integration of industry partners from the very stage of the conceptualisation of the scheme.
Dr Ashutosh focused on the need for skill formation initiative’s need to connect with local context and opportunities and the need for making Processes more efficient.
Dr Rashmi Singh also emphasised on the need for the industry integration at the conceptualisation stage and the need for individual attention in the scheme implementation and a less target fulfilment approach.
Prof Vijita primarily focused on the importance of mid-term evaluation and opportunities for course correction in such initiatives.
The faculty from IIT Jammu and Principal GDC Sidhra highlighted numerous opportunities in the wake of NEP 2020 to make more enterprise oriented and skill based approach to learning and how numerous opportunities are becoming available in this regard. The event saw a very enthusiastic participation from young students who not only lent eager ears, but also posed many insightful questions.
