REASI, FEBRUARY 27: Vice Chairperson, National Commission for Safai Karamchari (NCSK), Anjana Panwar, today chaired a meeting at Spiritual Growth Centre, SMVDSB Katra, to review measures being implemented for welfare and development of Safai Karamcharis in the district.
District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan, Director Urban Local Bodies, Punit Sharma, SDM Katra, Piyush Dhotra, Chief Medical Officer, CEO Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, Reasi and Katra, and other senior officers from different departments were present in the meeting. The meeting began with a brief introduction by EO Municipal Committee Katra, Rajat Abrol, highlighting the details regarding sanitation works in maintaining public health and cleanliness in Katra.
During the meeting, the Vice Chairperson took stock of various initiatives undertaken by different departments for welfare of Safai Karamcharis. She also interacted with representatives of various Safai Karamchari Associations, listening to their problems and ensuring resolution of their genuine issues. The Vice Chairperson directed the concerned departments to provide uniforms along with shoes and raincoats to the Safai karamcharis on a seasonal basis. She emphasized on the need to fill vacant posts of Safai Karamcharis and create fresh posts in departments, stressing on their regular appointments. She also instructed the EOs Municipal Committee Reasi and Katra to interact with Safai Karamcharis once a month to address their grievances. She stressed the importance of appointing Karamcharis in their surrounding areas. Regarding salaries and wages, Anjana Panwar directed the EOs to disburse salaries by 5th of every month besides exploring possibilities for further enhancing the existing wages. She also instructed the concerned authorities to construct a community hall for Safai Karamcharis, with at least one room dedicated to a digital library.
Furthermore, she directed authorities to ensure proper health checkups for Safai Karamcharis during health camps being organized by the Health department. She also emphasized the provision of group insurance cover and Ayushman Health Cards for all Safai Karamcharis who are not covered yet, ensuring they can benefit from these schemes.
